Join Great River Arts and Gary Block Tours on Thursday, August 8th, when we depart Little Falls at 7:00 a.m. from the northeast corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot. Our comfortable Andy’s Charter Service motor coach will also pick up in Brainerd or any other city along the

way. Upon arrival in Duluth, we’ll make a rest stop at the Thompson Hill Scenic overlook. Experience a breathtaking view of Lake Superior, the St. Louis River and the cities of Duluth

and Superior.

From there we travel to Canal Park, a conversion of an old warehouse districtinto restaurants and shops, the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center and more. Lunch is on your own with a choice of many cafes. Check the schedule and see what ships will be passing through the canal that day. We have a train to catch this afternoon as history comes alive on the Lakefront with the Duluth Zephyr. This is a 75-minute train ride through downtown Duluth,

along the shoreline of Lake Superior, thru the historic Congdon Neighborhood wooded area, until the Zephyr reaches a side-track stopping post and returns to the historic railroad depot

built in 1892.

It’s been a relaxing afternoon and will continue to be that way as we make a stop at the Tween Museum of Art on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth. The museum occupies a 33,000 square foot facility with 9,190 square feet of exhibition space. Tweed is a collecting and teaching museum, that creates innovative exhibitions and programs in the visual arts that reflect the cultures, histories and aspirations of people from all over the world. There is a global collection of more than ten thousand objects spanning eight centuries. Diverse media, such as paintings, photographs, ceramics, prints, cultural objects & sculpture, form the collections with digital prints, textiles, animation & computer media broadening the scope of the work. What a great way to spend a day in Duluth! We should be returning to LF around 7:45 p.m.
